How do you say "very best" in Alabama? Ichi ban.

HiSAN, a joint venture between ITT Industries Fluid Handling Systems business and the Japanese company Sanoh, saw its Scottsboro, Alabama, facility earn Manufacturer of the Year honors from the Alabama Technology Network and the Business Council of Alabama.

Opened in June 2000, the HiSAN Scottsboro plant manufactures fuel and brake line assemblies for Japanese cars made in the U.S. The plant has continuously upgraded its manufacturing capabilities with the latest advances in metal and plastic tubing, and the result is a roster of satisfied customers -- including Honda, Nissan and Toyota -- and sales that have doubled in less than three years.

Scottsboro won the award in the "Small Manufacturer" category for companies with less than 100 employees.

"This award really goes to our 80 dedicated associates," says Plant Manager Philip Street. "Thanks to them, we have been able to achieve great performance in the areas of on-time delivery and lowering our PPM (defective parts per million). They have really worked together as a team to achieve the goals set before them."

The Scottsboro plant has collected other impressive hardware this past year, including the Nissan Quality Master Award and the ITT Industries Presidents ESH Leadership Award for safety. From customer service and continuous improvement to employee involvement and profitable growth, HiSAN Scottsboro is committed to being the very best.
