Earlier this year, ITT marked the official opening of a bigger and better Motion Technologies plant in Wuxi, China – made possible by a $10 million investment in 2012. The event included an exciting announcement that ITT is committing another $20 million to expand our braking technology production and R&D capabilities in Wuxi.
The investment in the company's Motion Technologies business is part of ITT's long-term commitment to growth in the region. ITT's Motion Technologies business produces and supplies braking and friction technologies for all categories of cars and commercial vehicles for major transportation manufacturers in China and around the world.
"Chinese auto and brake manufacturers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in terms of their expectations around quality, performance and safety," Motion Technologies President Luca Savi told the Wuxi audience. "These evolving expectations require increasingly innovative and high-quality products, and with these investments in Wuxi, we have the capabilities to offer solutions that meet these evolving expectations."
In Wuxi, ITT also announced plans to sponsor an engineering talent development program in China. Our company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with two program partners – Tuspark Co, Ltd. and China's Science and Technology Daily – to help cultivate and accelerate China's unique engineering talents.
