ITT Industries' Cannon Charity "Golf Classic" Breaks Record for Funds Raised

        NEW YORK, July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Cannon, a unit of ITT Industries
    (NYSE: IIN), hosted hundreds of golfers from throughout the electronics
    industry during a recent charitable tournament that benefited the Muscular
    Dystrophy Association (MDA).
        The 11th annual ITT Cannon "Golf Classic" raised over $125,000
    (net) for MDA.  MDA is a voluntary health organization dedicated to
    eradicating 40 neuromuscular diseases, many of which are fatal.  Muscular
    dystrophy can strike at any age, but often affects children.
        "This year, the ITT Cannon golf classic raised more money for MDA than in
    any other single year in our history," said Tony Cantalice, Tournament
    Chairman.  He also serves as ITT Cannon's Director of Credit Operations.  "Our
    grand total for all 11 tournaments is now $1.2 million net."
        Gerry Gendron, President of ITT Cannon, commented, "We are proud that each
    year our customers, colleagues, business associates and even competitors join
    together to collectively help raise funds to support the men, women and
    children served by MDA."
        The 1997 tournament was held in May at the Desert Inn Resort & Casino in
    Las Vegas.  The hotel boast's the only golf course on the Las Vegas Strip and
    is home to PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA events.
        Tournament host was world-famous comedian Norm Crosby.  He and pop music
    star Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers treated tournament attendees to a
    Las Vegas-style show the night before the golf competition.
        Among the electronics industry companies providing sponsorship to the ITT
    Cannon "Golf Classic" were: AMP, AVX Corp., Baka Corp., Brandel-Stephens
    & Co., C. Hofbauer Inc., EETimes magazine, Glenair Inc., ITT Industries,
    Molex, Pacific Systems Ltd., Pan Pacific Electronics, Inc., PEI-Genesis,
    Precision Stamping Inc., Thomas & Betts Corp., and Time Electronics.
        American Airlines was also a key sponsor.
        Cantalice said that the 1998 tournament will be held Sunday, May 10 and
    Monday, May 11, once again at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas.
