ITT Industries Names Eric Steenburgh Vice President -Steenburgh Also Takes Reins of $600 Million Industrial Pump Unit-

        WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Industries (NYSE: IIN)
    announced today that its Board of Directors has elected Eric Steenburgh a Vice
    President of the Company.  Eric Steenburgh is also President of the Industrial
    Pump Group Worldwide at ITT Fluid Technology Corporation, which one of ITT
    Industries' three core businesses and the world's largest pump producer.
        "Eric Steenburgh has extensive leadership experience which  will be a
    valuable asset to ITT Industries," said Travis Engen, Chairman, President and
    Chief Executive of ITT Industries.  "He will also play a vital role in
    advancing ITT Fluid Technology's progress in the important industrial pump
    market."
        As President of ITT Fluid Technology's recently formed Industrial Pump
    Group Worldwide, Steenburgh will drive production and marketing of ITT Fluid
    Technology's complete line of pump products for industrial customers
    worldwide.  This product line recently expanded significantly when ITT
    Industries acquired Goulds Pumps, Inc. earlier this year.  Products marketed
    through the Industrial Pump Group Worldwide have annual sales of about
    $600 million and include several market-leading brands, including Goulds,
    Allis Chalmers, Richter and Vogel.
        Eric Steenburgh came to ITT Industries from Goulds Pumps when the
    companies merged.  At Goulds, he was President of the Industrial Products
    Group.
        Before joining Goulds in 1995, Steenburgh was President and Chief
    Operating Officer at Ricoh Company Ltd.  He also spent 27 years with Xerox
    Corporation, where he held several senior management positions, including
    Senior Vice President and General Manager.  Among other responsibilities, he
    led the company's manufacturing operations worldwide, and was closely involved
    in initiatives which gained Xerox the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
        Steenburgh holds a BSIE from the General Motors Institute and an MS in
    Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  He is active in a number of
    professional and educational organizations as well as in community programs in
    his hometown of Rochester, N.Y.
