(NYSE: IIN), the world's leading pump producer, announced today that it has
acquired Sinton Engineering Group, a UK-based company that specializes in the
production and sales of fluid handling components, including valves, custom
fabrications, and specialty fittings for the hygienic processing industries.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

represents one-third of the world's pharmaceutical and bioprocessing sector
and a promising growth opportunity for our hygienic fluid handling business,"

Sinton, located in Kirkham, England, was formed in 1976 and serves the
pharmaceutical/bioprocessing, chemical and food and beverage markets. The
company operates within an ISO 9001 environment and has annual sales of
approximately $7 million.
ITT Industries' fluid technology business has been active in the sale of
valves, pumps and components for hygienic applications in the UK and Europe
since 1989. In 1991 Sinton began serving as a factory authorized distributor
for ITT Industries, and the company later took on the role of licensee,
supplying ITT Industries' Pure-Flo products, including valves and processing
components, throughout Europe.
The acquisition of Sinton closely follows ITT Industries' purchase of A.G.
Johansons Metallfabrik AB of Kolback, Sweden, also a manufacturer of stainless
components and custom fabrications for the pharmaceutical industry, and
further enhances ITT Industries' presence in the European Community.
