ITT Industries Names Edward W. Williams Controller

        WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Industries (NYSE: IIN)
    announced today that it had named Edward W. Williams as its new Controller
    effective today.  Williams will be nominated as a Corporate Vice President
    later this month at a meeting of the company's Board of Directors.
        Williams joined ITT in 1987 as the controller at ITT Avionics in Clifton,
    New Jersey.  He was promoted to Vice President and Controller of the ITT
    Defense and Electronics business unit in 1992 where he has played a key
    leadership role.  Prior to joining ITT, Ed worked for RCA Corporation and
    General Electric rising to the level of Director of Finance of the Government
    Communications Systems Division.  He has a Bachelors Degree from Rutgers
    University and is a graduate of Stanford University's executive program.
