ITT Industries Improves Night Operational Mobility for Infantry Soldiers; Provides New Helmet Mounts for Night Vision Goggles

ROANOKE, Va., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Industries, Inc. (NYSE: IIN)
Night Vision Division has received a contract option award from the U.S. Army
Communications Electronics Command (CECOM) to produce an improved, more rugged
mount for attaching night vision goggles (NVGs) to infantry helmets. An
option under the OMNIBUS V contract (awarded June 1998), this award totals
$9 Million and includes deliveries of up to 114,300 helmet mounts over the
    next 3 years.
The helmet mount award follows a similar award that ITT received in
September 1998, when the Army accepted the company's proposed improvement to
mounts being delivered under the OMNIBUS IV procurement. Combined, these two
awards establish ITT as the single-source supplier of improved, metal helmet
    mounts to the U.S. Army.
"The equipment that the foot soldier uses must be as rugged as the
environment in which he operates," stated John Domalski, Vice President and
Director, Business Development, for ITT Industries Night Vision Division.
"With this new, ruggedized helmet mount, we hope to improve the hands-free,
night operational mobility of military ground forces."
Norotos, Inc., Santa Ana, CA, supported ITT Industries in its development
of this mount. Supplier Integrated Product Development (SIPD) enabled ITT to
augment its own design and engineering expertise with Norotos' strengths.
