Trinity MKJ5 Triple Start Ratchet offers consistent reliability in reduced weight and size

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., June 13, 2013ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) has released the Trinity MKJ Series 5 (MJK5) as part of its Cannon brand of leading connector solutions and will showcase this innovative technology at the Paris Air Show June 17-21. The newest addition to the Trinity MKJ product family of mini-circular connectors, the MKJ5 is an ideal solution for the aerospace, defense and industrial industries.

“ITT and its Cannon brand have a long history in the aerospace and defense markets, and the Trinity MKJ5 Triple Start Ratchet is one of the latest additions to our strong portfolio of harsh-environment connectors,” said Neil Yeargin, president of ITT’s Interconnect Solutions business.

“It meets our customers’ requirements for extended cycles in robust shock and vibration environments through its high-reliability internal ratchet mechanism system, and as part of the Trinity MKJ product line, it shares many of the attributes that make that product line one of the most lightweight and reliable sets of mini-circular connectors on the market.”

With the addition of the Series 5, the MKJ line now offers a comprehensive variety of coupling mechanisms that are fully intermateable with other miniature equivalents. Cannon’s unique triple-start threaded coupling mechanism allows the MKJ5 to quickly connect and disconnect, up to 2,000 cycles, while maintaining performance under sustained shock and vibration conditions. The MKJ5 also offers flexibility in configuration options for connectivity, multiple keying positions, and rear accessory threads or integral band platforms.

The complete line of Trinity MKJ connectors is up to 71 percent lighter and 52 percent smaller than military standard 38999-style harsh environment connectors, while maintaining similar electrical and mechanical characteristics.  Smaller lighter packaging and high reliability under vibration makes these connectors well-suited for a variety of electronics applications such as communications and controls for military and commercial aircraft, rotorcraft, launch vehicles, unmanned vehicles, ground vehicles and heavy equipment.

At the Paris Air Show, ITT will highlight several additional technologies including the newly qualified MIL-DTL-38999 Series III composite lightweight connector. Other solutions include a high-torque, precision-controlled rotary actuator used on RAM air doors to increase aircraft fuel efficiency; a compact linear actuator installed on engine air inlet doors to assist in noise reduction; several new switch products being used on next generation thrust reverser systems for major aircraft manufacturers; and the Enidamp™ Advanced Damping Treatment System, which helps keep vibration levels low and aerospace systems working as intended.

ITT designs and manufactures a broad array of highly engineered technologies for the aerospace industry, including valves, pumps and switches for fluid and environmental control systems and utility actuators that open and close exterior doors with improved fuel efficiency and reduced noise, as well as custom engineered components that minimize vibrations and noise, control overhead stowage bins, allow seats to recline and return to the upright position with the touch of a button, and contribute to in-flight communication systems.

ITT components can be found on all major aircraft platforms from the largest commercial transports to business jets, helicopters and all manner of military aircraft and land vehicles.  A portion of ITT’s business is also focused on supplying aftermarket services for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft to meet the airlines’ critical needs of updating equipment and keeping planes running safely and efficiently.
