Double-Duty Office in Dubai
In April, ITT Industries opened an office in the Emirate of Dubai, in the vibrant entrepreneurial heart of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that will serve as the Middle East sales center for both its fluid technology and defense businesses.
From its perch on the Persian Gulf, the new office allows both businesses to further their reach into this rapidly expanding region. For Fluid Technology, growth opportunities in the Middle East include desalination, water and wastewater treatment, pumping, and infrastructure rebuilding in Iraq. For Defense, the office will help grow international sales by putting the business closer to the regional governments who are prospective customers for night vision equipment, communications systems, radars, and aircraft survivability systems.
Currently, the new office includes sales personnel from the fluid technology and defense businesses. Plans call for the office to be expanded in the future to service complete water and wastewater treatment projects.
"Supplying turnkey facilities and plant operations are extensions of our current design, supply and commissioning business. It needs to be developed further in order to capitalize on the growing customer requirements for single-source suppliers," says Jorg Menningmann, general manager of Aquious Pure Water Group and Fluid Technology International.
"There is no doubt that combining the talents of our two powerhouse management companies, Defense and Fluid Technology, in one location will strengthen our strategic position and lead to continued growth in this extremely important market," says Bernard Dunn, vice president and director of Middle East operations for ITT Defense International. "We are talking and sharing market information in a way which was inconceivable even just a few months ago, while at the same time streamlining costs. We can already feel the energy this has generated."
