Friday, 3 Sep 2010

ROANOKE, Va., September 3, 2010 — The U.S. Army Research, Development & Engineering Command has awarded ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) a $19.9 million order for ITT’s AN/AVS-6(V)3 aviator night vision goggle and spare image intensifier tubes including ITT’s highest-performing Generation 3 Pinnacle® image intensifier in production, the MX-10160C.  The MX-10160C tube is the most advanced night vision technology available, producing the clearest, sharpest night vision image for U.S. soldiers.

“ITT has increased its production capacity and shortened delivery times for the MX-10160C night vision tube to meet the demand for our men and women in uniform,” said Bruce A. Wald, vice president and general manager of ITT’s Night Vision & Imaging business area.  “Now soldiers, aviators and special forces operators will have timely access to this advanced technology required to operate in the most challenging battlefield environments.”

Night vision systems with the MX-10160C image tubes have the ability to detect available light with more than 10 times the power of previous generations.  They are designed for use in aviation goggles and ground systems that are used by special operations.
