Award Bestowed by Peers for Breakaway Leadership

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., September 28, 2010 — The CIO Leadership Network named ITT Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer Carol Zierhoffer a Top Ten Breakaway Leader for her outstanding leadership contributions in global Information Technology (IT) management and demonstrable business benefit brought to ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT). Peer driven and judged by an independent panel of current and former CIOs, academics and industry thought leaders, the award is one of the most highly respected CIO recognition events. This year's award recognized CIOs who have shown the ability to adapt, innovate and capitalize most effectively during challenging economic times.

"Carol is a visionary leader who has a passion for what she does and the ability to inspire others around her," said Steve Loranger, ITT chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Since joining ITT two years ago, she has been transforming our IT function to be more customer-centric, responsive and agile. Her tenacity and positive approach to tackling problems have resulted in significant business progress in partnering with our customers, technology innovation, and creation of consistent processes across the company. We are honored that her peers have recognized her key contributions to ITT's business success."

Prior to joining ITT, Zierhoffer had a twenty-year career with Northrop Grumman in IT. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of New Hampshire and a master's degree in computer information systems from Bentley College.
