Micro-D connectors provide durable and exceptional high-bandwidth wireless connectivity up to 6 GHz for passengers in-flight

SANTA ANA, CALIF., July 9, 2014 – ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) and its Cannon brand are leading the way in the aviation industry by providing high-reliability, wireless RF transmission up to 6 GHz and maximizing connectivity inside and outside the cabin. With coming changes in the use of wireless devices, airline operators are preparing to offer services allowing passengers wireless connectivity in-flight. ITT and its Cannon brand are ready to connect those in flight to the ground below. ITT will showcase its smallest, lightest, most durable Micro-D connector at the Farnborough International Air Show being held July 14-20.

The ITT Cannon Micro Wireless Access Point High-Bandwidth RF Connector System features high-bandwidth RF technology enabling the use of flight-qualified connectors at wireless access points located inside and outside the cabin, delivering superior transmission of RF signal inside and outside an aircraft. This market-leading RF capability delivers exceptional high-bandwidth performance in a durable, rugged design that withstands high shock and vibration environments.

The new series of lightweight ITT Cannon Micro-D connectors are capable of carrying 802.11n wireless transmission frequencies in a Micro-D package that opens up a world of wireless connectivity for passengers in-flight. The ITT Cannon difference is evident in the innovative design and easy integration into small PCB and Panel I/O applications with minimal space requirements. Constructed of lightweight, glass-filled thermoset materials and manufactured with strong high-performance dielectric material, the Cannon Micro Wireless Access Point High-Bandwidth RF Connector System is engineered to stay connected and endure in the harshest shock and vibration environments.

"ITT Cannon has a long legacy as an innovation leader in the aviation industry spanning almost a century," said Tom Cruz, vice president and general manager, aerospace and defense, with ITT's Interconnect Solutions business.
