Holding Suppliers to ITT Standards
ITT has more than 2,000 suppliers providing everything from pump motors and printed circuit boards to rubber bearings and sand. We view these suppliers as extensions of ITT and expect them to adhere to our standards for product responsibility and other key directives.
We conduct regular assessments of our corporate-contracted suppliers to verify compliance and identify required corrective actions. In 2007, we assessed more than 106 new global strategic suppliers. Each one of these audits provided a good first step in the relationship between ITT and our suppliers as we work to drive continuous improvement in the supply chain. Also, in 2007, we launched a web-based corrective action workflow tool for all of our suppliers, including these new global suppliers. We audit for child labor and slave labor, and require strategic suppliers to adhere to the ITT Code of Conduct.
Our leverage is further enhanced through the ongoing tightening of our supply chain. In 2006 and 2007, we consolidated $570 million of purchases with global suppliers who provide service to multiple ITT sites. To become a global supply partner, these companies must meet ITT standards for everything from product safety to export compliance.
