CANBERRA, Australia, April 13, 2010 — ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) today announced the establishment of ITT Defence Australia Pty Ltd, and the official opening of its new office in Canberra, which establishes a permanent presence in Australia and expands the global reach of ITT's Defense & Information Solutions business. The office was formally opened on April 13, 2010.
"The ITT Defence Australia office is a critical step for ITT to grow our international footprint," said David Melcher, president of ITT Defense & Information Solutions. "The new office will focus on delivering our sophisticated defence products and services to the Australian Defence Force and homeland security sectors. ITT Defence Australia will allow us to be hands-on with the Australian Defence Materiel Organisation, to address and deliver essential solutions to their Defence Force."
Graeme Clare has been appointed managing director of ITT Defence Australia, and will oversee ITT's day-to-day operations in the region. "We are excited to launch a permanent office in Australia to provide better service for our Defence customers in the region," said Clare. "ITT has developed a strong relationship with Australia, and the new office reaffirms our commitment to deliver and support ITT's equipment and systems to Australian companies and provide access to ITT's Global Supply Chain."
ITT, a top-10 U.S. defence contractor, recently realigned its Defense & Information Solutions business segment to meet the emerging needs of its global customers. The realignment will allow ITT to deliver broader solutions to customer needs, as the company expands outside the United States. ITT Defence Australia is the third international defence office established by ITT, following the 1993 opening of ITT Defence Ltd, located in Basingstoke, England and last week's opening of ITT Defence International Inc., located in New Delhi, India.
