ITT recognized as leading company for diversity

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., August 30, 2010 – For the third year in a row, ITT Corporation has been recognized by the readers of Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology as a Best Diversity Company. This recognition is a testament to ITT’s ongoing efforts to build and sustain a diverse workforce and inclusive workplace that embodies a global mindset.

Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology’s annual ranking asks its magazine readers and website visitors to identify the corporations, government agencies and other organizations that do the best work in diversity. ITT was selected based on its support of minorities and women, its attention to work/life balance and its commitment to supplier diversity.

“At ITT, we recognize the competitive advantage and internal value derived from an inclusive and diverse workforce,” said Bob Ellis, ITT’s chief inclusion and diversity officer. “We are proud of the recognition our efforts have received and continue to strive to build a workforce that truly reflects the world in which we do business.”

ITT has an Inclusion and Diversity Center of Excellence, which provides best practices, benchmarking, policy development, strategic direction and leadership around diversity throughout the company. As part of ITT’s commitment, it has initiated a three-year strategic plan to increase the number of women and members of under-represented groups in its organization at all levels and as of 2009, 26 percent of ITT’s executives were female. Furthermore, at the most senior level, half of ITT’s strategic council, the company’s top decision-making body, are women. The company has also recently conducted global inclusion and diversity summits, which convene employees to learn and apply diversity competencies in order to achieve business and professional objectives, at several locations.

The official 2010 Best Diversity Company results are featured in the June/July issue of Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology. To learn more about ITT’s commitment to inclusion and diversity, visit: http://www.itt.com/responsibility/employees/inclusion-diversity/.
