Portuguese construction firm chooses ITT's advanced technologies for wastewater treatment market entry

Lowara®, Flygt® pumps and other ITT products integrate for comprehensive water solutions

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – June 24, 2010 – ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) announced today that it has secured three complete wastewater treatment plant contracts in Montemor-o-Velho, a municipality of Portugal. Figueira da Foz-based construction company Guilherme Goncalves Correia & Filhos, Lda. (GGC), selected ITT as an industry leader in comprehensive water solutions and to help drive its emergence into the wastewater treatment arena.

GGC, who partnered with design firm, Centro Tecnologico de Gestao Ambiental, Lda (CTGA) to bid on the project, will install ITT’s Flygt® and Lowara® pumps, Sanitaire® diffusers coupled with Atlas Copco blowers, and ITT’s Wedeco® UV reactors at three new wastewater treatment plants throughout Montemor-o-Velho.

“ITT’s reputation for high-quality products and warranties made the company the premier choice for our first wastewater treatment plant project,” said Anibal Azevedo, general manager, GGC. “We are excited to enter this industry with the best partners, design plans and products in the market.”

When completed, the wastewater systems will ultimately process 1500 cubic meters of water and wastewater each day, serving a population of 30,000 people in Montemor-o-Velho and the surrounding area.

“These are exactly the kinds of projects where ITT can create and deliver extraordinary value to our customers,” said Andre Dhawan, vice president of ITT’s Residential and Commercial Water business in Europe. “We have the complete array of energy-efficient products and technologies.  Equally important, we have the application expertise in providing integrated solutions for wastewater and clean water pumping backed by the world-class engineering and manufacturing processes of an $11 billion high-technology company.”

CTGA, an ITT partner for the past eight years, recommended ITT products as key components to win the wastewater treatment project bid. Eziquiel Abrantes China, managing director, CTGA, cites the company’s “leadership in energy efficiency and superior client service” as primary selling points in the firm’s design plans.

“We look forward to continued partnership with both GGC and CTGA as we expand our presence in the European wastewater treatment market,” said Rui Campos, regional channel manager, RCW Portugal. “Our goal is to provide our customers with products, service and solutions that support successful business and deliver clean water to the end user.”

Construction on the first wastewater treatment plant began in March 2010. Project completion for all three plants is scheduled for first quarter 2011.
