ITT features the latest electromechanical actuator designs during 2012 Farnborough Airshow

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., July 12, 2012 — In conjunction with its participation in the 2012 Farnborough Airshow, ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) is showcasing its innovative actuation products, including a recently developed compact RAM door actuator, designed to make aircraft safer and more efficient while reducing noise and operating costs.

“Today’s aerospace manufacturers are continually pursuing opportunities to make their platforms more attractive in the marketplace,” said Munish Nanda, president of ITT’s Control Technologies business. “With our innovative components, we provide our customers the opportunity to produce tangible improvements at the aircraft level, whether in the next generation of aircraft platforms or in upgrades and retrofits to existing planes already flying.”

ITT designs and manufactures other highly engineered technologies for the aerospace industry, including actuators and dampers that control overhead stowage bins, devices that allow seats to recline and return to the upright position with the touch of a button, and connectors that are part of in-flight entertainment systems.

At Farnborough, ITT is highlighting several additional new technologies including an advanced damping system that allows critical components, such as aircraft sensors and electronics to function properly; a Mil-DTL 3899 composite connector that offers a 30 percent weight reduction to end users compared to its aluminum counterpart; and a strut integrated isolator that combines isolation with next-level assemblies to meet both noise and structural requirements in a lower-cost, reduced-weight package.

ITT has components on major aircraft platforms, regional and business jets, helicopters, satellites and space explorations, as well as military vehicles, submarines and ships. A portion of ITT’s business is also focused on supplying aftermarket services for maintenance, repair and overhaul to meet the critical need of airlines to update equipment and keep planes running safely and efficiently.

ITT's Control Technologies business is a global manufacturer and supplier of highly engineered aerospace components and industrial products. Through leading brands such as Neo-Dyn, Sota, Enidine and Enivate, the business serves customers in the aviation, defense, industrial and rail markets.
