EnidampTM helps keeps vibration levels low and aerospace systems working as intended
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., June 17, 2013 – A lightweight vibration reduction technology for the aerospace industry that allows critical components to function properly is one of several innovative technologies that ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) is highlighting during the 2013 Paris Air Show. The EnidampTM Advanced Damping Treatment System is part of ITT’s broad portfolio of vibration isolation, energy absorption and motion control products and solutions.“ITT has a legacy of innovation and experience in helping aerospace manufacturers improve the flying experience for their customers and achieve their noise and vibration isolation goals,” said Munish Nanda, president of ITT’s Control Technologies business. “With our strong focus on highly engineered and customized solutions, our team can provide differentiated vibration-damping technologies – including the EnidampTM Advanced Damping Treatment System – to keep vibration levels low and aerospace systems working as intended.”
This technology can be used in airplane ducting, structure, trim panels and floors, and can be packaged to accommodate development or retrofit of existing fleets.
At the Paris Air Show, ITT is highlighting several additional new technologies including high-torque, precision-controlled actuator technology that allows modulation in an aircraft’s RAM air door during flight; a compact linear actuator designed to open and close inlet doors upon takeoff and landing, thereby reducing noise and enabling the aircraft to fly into populated areas; several new switch products that are being used on next generation thrust reverser systems for major aircraft manufacturers; and the Enidamp™ Advanced Damping Treatment System, which helps keep vibration levels low and aerospace systems working as intended.
ITT designs and manufactures a broad array of highly engineered technologies for the aerospace industry, including actuators and dampers for overhead stowage bins, devices that allow seats to recline and return to the upright position with the touch of a button, connectors that are critical for everything from navigation to in-flight communication systems along with pumps, valves and switches that are essential to nearly all critical aircraft systems.
Other technologies include Cannon connectors such as the newly qualified MIL-DTL-38999 Series III composite lightweight connector and the Trinity MKJ Series 5 mini-circular connector, a lightweight connector that has a unique internal ratchet mechanism system designed to handle robust shock and vibration environments.
ITT components can be found on all major aircraft platforms from the largest commercial transports to business jets, helicopters and all manner of military aircraft and land vehicles. A portion of ITT’s business is also focused on supplying aftermarket services for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft to meet the airlines’ critical needs of updating equipment and keeping planes running safely and efficiently.
ITT's Control Technologies business is a global manufacturer and supplier of highly engineered aerospace components and industrial products. Through leading brands such as Enidine, Neo-Dyn and Enivate, the business serves customers in the aerospace, energy, heavy industry, infrastructure and automation markets.
