ITT to exhibit 38999 composite lightweight connector at Paris Air Show

Reliable and lightweight connector awarded full QPL certification by Defense Logistics Agency

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., June 12, 2013 – ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) will highlight its newly qualified MIL-DTL-38999 Series III Composite – part of its Cannon brand of leading connector solutions and the most recent addition to this MIL-DTL product family – at the 2013 Paris Air Show June 17-21.This circular connector can be used for a variety of applications including military communication systems, aerospace launch vehicles, military and commercial aviation, and hand-held and vehicle platforms.

“As a global multi-industrial company, ITT focuses on providing highly engineered and customized solutions to customers in key markets such as aerospace and defense, and we are pleased to offer the latest addition to our MIL-DTL product family,” said Neil Yeargin, president of ITT’s Interconnect Solutions business.

“With our legacy of innovation in these markets, customers know they can count on our 38999 Series III composite connector to support harsh mission-critical applications with improved reliability and a lighter weight design than any competing 38999 product on the market.”

The Class J and M series components have also been awarded full certification as a QPL (Qualified Product List) part by the Defense Logistics Agency, making the composite connector a preferred component for military environments.

ITT Cannon’s MIL-DTL-38999 Composite is four times more resistant to corrosion than standard OD Cad and 50X Nickel models, making it more reliable than competing models. The Composite’s scoop-proof design ensures that pins cannot be bent and that pin contacts cannot be electrically shorted when connected.

The MIL-DTL-38999 Composite connector is plastic rather than aluminum, making it 30 percent lighter than the average 38999 model. The lightweight connectors lighten the load in vehicles carrying them, resulting in improved fuel efficiency and reduced overall operational costs. The 38999 Composite can be tailored to meet specific regional design requirements and to be optimized for local sourcing options.

At the Paris Air Show, ITT will highlight several additional technologies including the Trinity MKJ Series 5 mini-circular connector, a lightweight connector that has a unique internal ratchet mechanism system designed to handle robust shock and vibration environments. Other solutions include a high-torque, precision-controlled rotary actuator used on RAM air doors to increase aircraft fuel efficiency; a compact linear actuator installed on engine air inlet doors to assist in noise reduction; several new switch products being used on next generation thrust reverser systems for major aircraft manufacturers; and the Enidamp™ Advanced Damping Treatment System, which helps keep vibration levels low and aerospace systems working as intended.

ITT designs and manufactures a broad array of highly engineered technologies for the aerospace industry, including valves, pumps and switches for fluid and environmental control systems and utility actuators that open and close exterior doors with improved fuel efficiency and reduced noise, as well as custom engineered components that minimize vibrations and noise, control overhead stowage bins, allow seats to recline and return to the upright position with the touch of a button, and contribute to in-flight communication systems.

ITT components can be found on all major aircraft platforms from the largest commercial transports to business jets, helicopters and all manner of military aircraft and land vehicles.  A portion of ITT’s business is also focused on supplying aftermarket services for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft to meet the airlines’ critical needs of updating equipment and keeping planes running safely and efficiently.
