ITT's Cannon brand showcases new generation of RoHS compliant VG connector at electronica 2014

New generation VG95234 connector offers environmental benefits by providing alternative to Cadmium plating in demanding defense applications

SANTA ANA, CALIF., Nov. 10, 2014 – ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) and its Cannon brand will showcase a new generation of VG95234 connector that provides an alternative to traditional Cadmium plating at electronica 2014. This new signal and power metal bayonet connector series meets the industry demand for products with environmental benefits without compromising the reliable and ruggedized performance necessary for critical defense applications such as ground vehicles.

ITT's new VG95234 connectors are designed with zinc cobalt plating instead of traditional Cadmium plating to conform to the RoHS and REACH environmental standards, while also meeting the European Military VG specification.

"Interconnect solutions have been an integral part of the defense industry for decades. ITT's Cannon brand is synonymous with developing cost-effective and high-performance defense connectors that are smaller sized, lighter weight and able to withstand the harshest environments." said Guenter Schall, Director Product Management at ITT's Interconnect Solutions business.

"Cannon recognizes the growing trend and demand for solutions for defense applications that also offer environment benefits. Our new line of VG95234 connectors is designed with a RoHS compliant plating that doesn't use Cadmium or Chromium 6 and meets today's environmental requirements while still conforming to stringent defense standards."

Defense applications have triggered the development of new connector solutions for decades and are governed by national and international standards that ensure consistent availability and product quality. Today, military applications are moving towards compliance with RoHS and REACH environmental standards to reduce the emission of hazardous materials in product solutions.

The ITT Cannon Universal Contact will be showcased at ITT's exhibit at electronica 2014 on Nov. 11-14 in Hall B4 Stand 428.
