ITT's Aerospace Controls team showcases expanded capabilities and enhanced reliability in valves and actuator solutions at Farnborough

Advances in valve and actuator product portfolio deliver robust dependability and superior performance in harsh environments

VALENCIA, CALIF., July 10, 2014 – ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) and its Aerospace Controls team are displaying new capabilities and reliability enhancements across their valve and actuator product portfolio at the 2014 Farnborough International Air Show, July 14-20. ITT's Aerospace Controls portfolio offers robust, customized fluid control devices and actuator solutions that are found on commercial aircraft, business jets, military and general aviation aircraft worldwide.

ITT is showcasing two advanced valve product lines for the aviation industry. The Shrouded Valve and the Fuel Spar Valve each offer enhanced safety, reliability and efficiency in a robust and highly engineered solution. The Shrouded Valve delivers a safer operating environment and is designed for zero fuel leakage under high pressure. The design improvements help to prevent catastrophic events in aircraft from propagating and endangering occupants and the aircraft. The Fuel Spar Valve features a patent pending design and unique approach to relieving pressure buildup in fuel lines providing enhanced aircraft fuel efficiency. The expanded capabilities were conceived, developed and tested within two months to support an aggressive program schedule.

"At ITT, we have spent decades designing, testing and manufacturing new innovations for the aerospace industry that help manufacturers make their platforms more attractive in the marketplace," said Munish Nanda, president of ITT's Control Technologies business. "Our focus is on continuing to execute on our promises to manufacturers and passengers, delivering customized solutions that provide more efficient, dependable and safer air travel."

ITT's actuator product lines feature new enhancements that provide reliable, ruggedized solutions for some of the harshest environmental applications. During the show, four expanded and improved actuator product lines led by the Dual Motor Actuator are being showcased. Featuring a higher torque rating for the most demanding installations, the Dual Motor Actuator delivers reliability and longevity, ensuring longer endurance life capabilities.

"While designed for fuel applications, the Dual Motor Actuator line is flexible enough to be utilized in a variety of other similar systems. The Rotary Actuator line will withstand extreme levels of electro-magnetic interference within a compact frame, giving customers increased flexibility and more reliable performance," said Steve Kim, general manager, ITT's Control Technologies Aerospace business.

Two additional ITT actuators being showcased at Farnborough are the latest generation of the Opto Actuator and a harsh environment Linear Actuator. The Opto Actuator utilizes redundant sensing to separate position and command circuits making the entire aircraft's system more fault tolerant. The Linear Actuator features a rigid housing design and improved environmental sealing for superior performance in harsh environmental applications. These improvements bring the best practices and lessons learned on flight control actuation to the utility actuation market.

ITT components can be found on major aircraft platforms from the largest commercial transports to business jets, helicopters and all manner of military aircraft and land vehicles.  A portion of ITT's business is also focused on supplying aftermarket services for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft to meet the airlines' critical needs of updating equipment and keeping planes running safely and efficiently.
