Observes seventh-annual Pump Appreciation Day
SENECA FALLS, N.Y., April 12, 2018 – In the mid-1800s, two companies came to life – Goulds Pumps in upstate New York and Bornemann in Lower Saxony, Germany – that would shape the future of the global pump industry through their innovative technologies and solutions.
This week, these legacy brands, which are now part of ITT Inc. (NYSE: ITT), are celebrating milestone anniversaries as well as their engineered solutions that have helped their global customers solve their most challenging problems for more than 160 years.
Immediately after its founding in 1848, Goulds Pumps produced the world's first all-metal pump, a significant innovation that helped shape industrialization. Over the years, Goulds Pumps has introduced innovations that include other industry firsts such as their extensive series of ANSI process pumps, as well as the XHD next-generation slurry pump, VICR compact vertical multi-stage low-flow pump and the i-ALERT® asset intelligence monitoring solution.
Bornemann has been setting the pace in positive displacement pump technology since its founding in 1853. It patented a twin-screw pump with external bearings in 1934 and has since maintained a steady stream of innovation, including multiphase pumps for the oil and gas industry and hygienic pumps for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
"We are proud of the legacy of innovation that these two brands represent, which has made them recognized and trusted globally for many years," said David Malinas, president of ITT's Industrial Process business. "Our teams are also proud that the spirit that animated that success drives everything we do today to create ever-more innovative solutions, deliver a superior customer experience and improve efficiency and the lowest total cost of ownership in partnership with our customers."
ITT Inc.'s Goulds Pumps, Bornemann and PRO Services brands also observed this week the seventh-annual Pump Appreciation Day, a global event that celebrates pumps as the heart of industry, raises awareness of the value of pumps to modern manufacturing, and honors those who work in the industry and help drive the world forward.
This year, 14 organizations and their representatives will be presented with the Heart and Pulse of Industry Award. This award recognizes companies, plants and individuals whose operational excellence and use of pump technology advance plant processing, customer service and our overall way of life through improved reliability, efficiency and lower cost of ownership.
In addition to Pump Appreciation Day events and award programs, an online World of Pumps Quiz launched today that tests participants' knowledge of the pump industry and its products through one question a week for the next 20 weeks. Last year's quiz attracted close to 11,000 unique visitors from 90 countries.
