Proven, patented technologies provide military partners with critical, customized and integrated shock and vibration solutions for a wide range of challenging defense applications
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Nov. 4, 2019 – ITT Inc.'s (NYSE: ITT) Enidine brand will showcase a comprehensive portfolio of highly engineered shock attenuating, energy absorption and vibration isolation solutions for military and defense applications at the 90th Shock and Vibration Exchange (SAVE) Symposium, in Atlanta, Ga. Nov. 3-7.
During the event, ITT Enidine will exhibit engineering capabilities and a wide range of product innovations at booth 604. ITT Enidine's highly engineered products support applications in the latest weapons, naval electronics, transportation, containers/cabinets and aviation systems.
"ITT Enidine brings over fifty years of expertise in shock absorption and vibration isolation technology, providing our defense market partners with customized solutions that protect and enable some of their most challenging military applications," said Farrokh Batliwala, Senior Vice President and President, Connect Control Technologies, ITT Inc. "By combining fluid and elastomeric technologies, we can offer a proprietary solution that is designed, manufactured, tested, and delivered from a single source as an integrated solution."
During SAVE, a five-day event serving as the leading forum for the structural dynamics and vibration community to present and discuss the latest research and new technologies, ITT Enidine will showcase shock and vibration solutions including:
- Hydraulics: Hydraulics which are utilized on a variety of applications including the Phalanx Gun and SeaRAM Missile systems. Patented Shock Isolator Double Acting Spring (SIDAS) for shock mitigation of electronics cabinets, patented DAMSI units for the MK41, MK14 launch systems, smaller hydraulics for stabilization of missile firing systems, Target Sight Systems and gimbals for camera solutions. ITT also supplies weapon recoil solutions for large-caliber and small arms.
- Highly Engineered Elastomers: These include strut integrated isolators utilized on large cabinets in the P8 aircraft, isolation struts for the Embraer E2 APU system, dynamically isolated in all degrees of freedom. Flight critical components including multi-modulus laminated bearings, spherical bearings and pylon links utilized in rotorcraft. Smaller engineered solutions for cargo floors, APU and ECU isolators, integrated electronic tray with isolators over-molded into the tray, and smaller isolators for equipment, panels and other sub systems.
- HERMs: High Energy Rope Mount (HERM) Isolators are manufactured using wire rope isolators over-molded with highly damped elastomer, making them a "fail-safe" design with a wider load range capability than standard wire rope isolators. During molding, the wire rope is forced into a more elliptical shape, offering improved tension deflection capability and less compression set than a traditional wire rope isolator. The additional damping and tension deflection capability results in a lower shock response acceleration. HERMs are incorporated on a wide range of defense applications including NAVY cabinet isolation and rafted deck systems, radar systems, weapons and vehicles.
- SKID isolators: These isolators are designed to protect and ensure the performance of equipment within critical systems. These large displacement isolators provide shock and vibration isolation under a wide range of environmental conditions and enable safe transport of munitions by land or air with a unique elastomeric technology. The US Navy's Helios laser weapons system relies on an assortment of Enidine motion control components including SKID isolators and High-Energy Rope Mounts (HERMs) to protect this high-impact, triple-threat defense system.
- Wire Rope Isolators: Constructed of stainless-steel cable and aluminum retaining bars, the ITT Enidine wire rope isolators attenuate shock and vibration, protecting machinery and equipment. The all-metal construction ensures they are completely unaffected by oil, chemicals, abrasives, ozone or temperature extremes.
ITT Enidine representatives will be available throughout SAVE at booth 604 at the Hilton Atlanta. For more information regarding Enidine's solutions, please visit www.enidine-defense.com.
