New cost-effective offering provides high noise attenuation across a broad range of conditions
DEARBORN, Michigan, October 9, 2020 – Wolverine Advanced Materials, an ITT Inc. (NYSE: ITT) Company, announces the launch of its new Value Line of QUIETPATH™ aftermarket brand brake shim and abutment clip materials that offer high noise attenuation across a broad range of environmental conditions. These new cost effective material solutions will provide both direct customers and friction manufacturers with premium materials at an improved price position that are ideal for competitive bid situations.
The initial introduction includes two new exclusive brake shim materials and one new abutment clip material for the good & better segment of the independent automotive brake friction aftermarket.
"Traditionally, friction pads in these segments feature painted or epoxy coated metals with minimal NVH performance benefits," said Steven Sehmer, Executive Director of Global Aftermarket at Wolverine Advanced Materials. "We are changing this dynamic by offering a line of high performing, O.E. grade NVH material, at an economical price."
As a leading global original equipment supplier of brake shims and aftermarket shim materials, Wolverine has engineered new shim materials with proven original equipment grade NBR elastomer and proprietary acrylic adhesive that can be formed into clip-on or stamped into flat style shims with adhesive backing.
QUIETPATH™ abutment clip material features NBR, PTFE and modified stainless steel, offering high formability and corrosion resistance. The core metal substrate thicknesses can be modified based on customer requirements.
These cost effective solutions are achieved through use of high production volume raw material components, process efficiencies and optimizing the thickness of the layers of metal, elastomer and adhesive within the overall composition.
The QUIETPATH™ image will provide friction manufacturers the ability to promote the brand of a recognized leader in the industry.
These new 'universal' materials can be applied to a broad range of friction formulations.
